For implementing Project Unnati, we surveyed a number of schools in the Lokhra area of Guwahati, where the children who pass out from class 5 would pursue higher studies. We zeroed in on a private school which had boarding and Lodging facilities for the children at a very concessional rate. We decided that we would tie up with that school to help our children to take up studies from class 6 onwards. We realised that walking down from their village to this private school in Lokhra would be a gigantic task for them. We decided that each child that passes out from our school will be given a bicycle so that they can commute to and fro from their homes easily.
